September Week 1 (due Sep 10)

Newsletter Message
Hey guys! This is gonna be a great year!  This is going to be so inspirational, fun, and spiritual.
I was thinking of the message for the newsletter and how much we're being asked to do and thought of how much God asks us to ultimately do.  And then I thought of this quote by Neil A. Maxwell,
“God does not begin by asking us about our ability, but only about our availability, and if we then prove our dependability, he will increase our capability.”
As I was thinking of this quote I realized that God will help us as long as we give Him our availability times. What time will you give Him?
Love you guys a bunch!
Hugs, hugs, hugs, and MORE HUGS!
-Enoch

Memorization:
Scripture:
Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
Poem:

September: The Whole Armor by Connie C. Bratcher

We are to put on the "Whole Armor of God",
And having done so - stand,
As the forces of evil seek to destroy
    God's work and perfect plan.
We gird ourselves with the "Truth"-
    Christ Jesus - Lord of all;
And as our minds are stayed on Him,
    We're safe whatever befall.
We put on the "Breastplate of Righteousness"
As we face the daily fight,
Shunning all the works of iniquity,
    Standing for what is right.
Our feet are shod with the "Gospel of Peace"
As we walk on the battle ground,
Leaving footprints for others to follow,
That true peace would be found.
We take with us the "Shield of Faith",
    Trusting God each day -
    Defense against the fiery darts
    Satan sends our way.
We take the "Helmet of Salvation"
For protection of the mind -
    A guard against all accusations,
And a witness to the spiritually blind.
We take the "Sword of the Spirit",
    Just as Moses took the rod;
It is the most powerful tool upon the earth -
The Word of The Living God.
When we wear this spiritual armor,
    We're prepared for any battle that comes our way;
"No weapon formed against us shall prosper"-
God gives us victory every day.

September Inspirements
Week 1:
CORE:
Do first (by the Thursday before class):
1. Read: Turn the Page Intro through Chapter 1. Practice “writing in your books” in all of your readings this week.
2.  Read: Putting on the Armor of God Chapters 2&3 and answer the following questions in your journal: What is your role in this war? Who are the "bad guys" and what does their presence feel like? What are you doing to protect your family from their influence?
3. Put up: your goal progress tracking and memorization in a place you can see often
Do the rest of the study week:
1. Word Study: Choose a word from this month’s scripture and look it up in the 1828 dictionary. Write down the definition(s) you like best. Look up two more definitions for words in the definition you wrote. Then find at least five scriptures that teach you more about that word and write those down.
2. Listen and Read: What Makes it Great Chapter Introduction and to page 8.  Listen to the examples here as you read.
4. Read: Chapter 2 from Beautiful Girlhood (young ladies) or "Vision" from Mansfield’s Guide (young men) and write your favorite truth/principle from that chapter.
5. Read: The first half of Mocassin Trail or Porter Rockwell
6. Read: Write Well Change the World Chapter 1
7. Create: Create something to share about something that inspired you this week such as: a poem, paper, drawing, painting, timeline, video, song, blog post, speech, goodreads review, visual presentation, digital piece, letter, or another way to share the truth you learned.  Try a different way to share than what you tried last week. Remember, this can be a rough draft of what you take to Journeyman to refine and it may be the writing you are doing for Master class.

JOURNEYMAN:
1.  Find, buy, recycle, or make: a book that you will use as a writing journal for the year. It can be a sketch book, a note book, or any other book that you can take notes and write in.
2. Set aside and plan: a regular time to record your writing ideas
3. Read: Aspire – ForeWord and write your thoughts in your journal
4. Write: your thoughts about the monthly theme and come up with one way that you would like to share that message with others.

What kind of influence can we have on the public when we share our message? Email your research (you may revise it into a research paper in Journeyman) to Sis. Pack by September 12th and bring it to class when we meet.
Read: "Slavery Gains a Foothold" Chapter 15 from the book Quest of a Hemisphere by Donzella Cross Boyle found for free at http://www.robertwelchuniversity.org/quest_hemisphere.php.
